Summary of the Day

Initial Results in 10 Governorates: 56% with (YES) and 44% against (NO) Egypt Draft Constitution

Cairo: 57% NO - Gharbia 52% NO - and some Governorates show exceptionally high vote for Yes

In my opinion Results are indicative of (and proportional to) integrity of the voting process and relative party organizational readiness

Where the Voting Process was relatively cleaner and opposition better organized, a No vote prevailed

Some opposition parties made a terrible error where they assumed that they will never have to go to the Polls - they did - unprepared

Some opposition leaders kept talking about boycotting the referendum until the day before voting instead of focusing on mobilizing for a NO vote

Opposition Leaders who kept talking about boycotting the referendum instead of Mobilizing for a NO vote handed millions of votes to MB

Most of the NO votes came as a result of people's general sentiment against MB - results can improve with mobilization in 2nd Half

Some opposition leaders kept talking and asking the competition to postpone the vote while MB was working the election machinery

Opposition still has a chance to improve results in the 2nd Half of the Referendum if focus is turned to mobilizing voters and monitors
