GAIA Extended to Economics and Politics

From Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_hypothesis

The Gaia hypothesis, also known as Gaia theory or Gaia principle, proposes that organisms interact with their inorganic surroundings on Earth to form a self-regulatingcomplex system that contributes to maintaining the conditions for life on the planet. Topics of interest include how the biosphere and the evolution of life forms affect the stability of global temperatureocean salinityoxygen in the atmosphere and other environmental variables that affect the habitability of Earth.

Comment:

A possible Extension of GAIA Hypothesis may regard our political, economic, cultural, social and technological sub-systems as a part of the system. When one of these sub-systems contribute to the violation of the natural balance in a significant way, the action or behavior upsetting the balance will be "resisted" by the system as a whole since it decreases the likelihood of the system's survival - and vice verse.

Even morality can be seen as principles, values, attitudes and behaviors which emerged (will emerge) as "favorable" to the survival of the holistic system.
